One day there was a girl called Wendy Hennessey. She hated apples- her least favorite fruit. Wendy lived in a village. The village had lots and lots of fruit trees. Most of them were pear trees and some were lemon trees. But there was only one apple tree that Wendy begged her father to cut that apple tree down. Her father said, "Do you notice that some people in our village love apples? If we cut that once and only tree down, the apples will fall and get rotten and people who want to eat apples will not get the apples that they want!" Wendy thought that was ridiculous- who loved lovely smelly yucky apples? She knew her father and mother liked apples and bananas.During the night Wendy whispered a poem that she'd made up.
'Oh what a great excuse, apples will fall to muse, cut that tree down, you know it's out of bounce!' Every single night Wendy will whisper that rhyme. The next morning, Wendy went to have a walk down the side of the woods and pick some pebbles along the way. Her mother shouted, "Don't go in the woods- stay beside the woods!" Wendy nodded and waved goodbye. She knew her mother will like some fresh banana's for lunch. As she stopped near an apple tree she wondered, 'This must be a banana tree." But to her shock- she pulled out an red apple! "Yuk! She exclaimed and dropped the apple and wiped her hands on her dress. What a disappointment! She did not want to touch another apple for the rest of her life! Though on the apples' tree branch was a piece of paper written in black ink. Wendy picked it up for her curiosity. It said: An apple an day keeps The Doctor Away. 'My what I say!' thought Wendy and put the sheet in her basket and skipped all the way home and sung: Oh What A Great Excuse Apples Will Fall To Muse Cut That Down Tree You Know It's Out Of Bounce!' When her father read the note of the message Wendy said, "What does that mean?" Her father said, "If you eat an apple each day-"
"Ew! That's disgusting! Who'd want to eat an yuky apple each time a day?" distracted Wendy.
"It means that if you eat an apple once a day, you won't get sick of with a flu and the doctor will be kept away because if you do just that, you won't have to visit the doctor because you're not sick," said Wendy's Father. Then he cleared his throat. "Wendy you better take this note back to that apple tree because it is not made for you, it is made for the whole rest of the village to see so you shall not keep. Please return it back, Wendy,"
Wendy shrugged and sighed. Then she asked her mother, "Is it true that you won't get sick when you eat an apple each day?"
"It is true, child, now return that note back and come back safe!" Her mother said.
Wendy skipped back to the woods and saw the apple tree and place the note back- then she said to the tree, "Oh What A Great Excuse Apples Will Grow And Grow Don't Cut That Tree Down You Know It Is A Grow... After she sung the rhyme for at least ten times she picked up ten apples from the tree and took a bite out of the first apple then skipped all the way home, can't wait to eat the fresh ripe, red apples!
The End
Happy Apple Day! says Wendy.
